The Nationals optioned right-handers Garrett Mock and Brian Sanches to Triple-A Columbus after Saturday night 13-3 loss to the Texas Rangers. Purchased the contracts of Pete Orr and right-hander Steven Shell from the same club.
Mock made the start in place of Odalis Perez, who’s on the 15-day list with assume tendenitis, and picked up the loss. Mock dropped to 0-2 with a 6.97 ERA in two starts.
Sanches allowed four runs in a third of an of relief against Texas.
Orr was .267 with two and 30 RBIs with Columbus, after the past three seasons with Atlanta.
Shell, who was 3-2 with a 2.62 ERA at Columbus, has at no time in the major leagues.
