NCAA Football Betting – Week 7 (17 Oct.)
NCAA Football Betting – Week 7 Preview
No. 20 Oklahoma (3-2, 2-3 ATS) was happy to get reigning Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford back under center last week after the quarterback missed three games with a sprained shoulder, but it continues to deal with a key injury to its receiving corps. Leading receiver Ryan Broyles (shoulder) missed the Sooners’ 33-7 win against Baylor (+27.5) last Saturday, and is listed as doubtful for Oklahoma.
Pinnacle Sports Betting Lines has No. 3 Texas (5-0, 1-4 ATS) as 3-point favourites for the contest, but the Longhorns might be hard pressed to cover with running backs Tre’ Newton (concussion) and Vondrell McGee (shoulder) listed as day-to-day. If neither can go, there would be added pressure on quarterback Colt McCoy to move the ball through the air on Saturday.
Over in the SEC, No. 2 Alabama (6-0, 5-1 ATS) is giving 17 points to No. 22 South Carolina (5-1, 4-2 ATS) for their battle on Saturday afternoon at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Crimson Tide leapfrogged the Longhorns in the national polls with their 22-3 payday as 3.5-point chalk at Mississippi last week, and are now 7-1 ATS in their last eight games in conference play.
The Gamecocks play only their second road contest of the season on Saturday, and they’re hoping for the same result at the window this time around. South Carolina lost 41-37 at Georgia in its season opener, but covered as 7-point underdogs at the Pinnacle Sportsbook.
Elsewhere on the Week 7 schedule, No. 11 Iowa (6-0, 3-2 ATS) clashes with Wisconsin (5-1, 3-3 ATS) at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Hawkeyes remained undefeated by getting past Michigan (+9.5) 30-28 last week, while the Badgers suffered their first loss of the season by falling 31-13 at Ohio State (-14.5) last Saturday.
Iowa is a 1-point dog for the Big Ten matchup, but that number might not last for long after punters have had time to digest the betting trends heading into the game. The Hawkeyes have covered the spread in seven of their last eight contests against teams with winning records, and are 6-1 ATS (5-2 SU) in the last seven meetings between the schools.
