Florida WR Debose may need surgery
Florida wide receiver Andre Debose may need surgery to correct a hamstring problem that has bothered him since practice began.
Gators coach Urban Meyer said Saturday that Deboses hamstring injury was at first not thought to be serious because Debose was able to work out at practice, though he was limited.
Its a real injury, Meyer said. We were worried it was just a tight hamstring, a hamstring pull or a hamstring strain. It might be something more. Well have more details on Monday.
Meyer said he believed Debose, whom the top-ranked Gators were hoping would be able to replace speedster Percy Harvin, initially hurt the hamstring during the Florida state high school track meet in April.
Also, senior linebacker Dustin Doe has been allowed to rejoin the team. He had been suspended since his July arrest for driving with a suspended license. Doe pleaded guilty to a pair of misdemeanors and sentenced to a year of unsupervised probation, three days on an Alachua County work crew, and $600 in fines.
Meyer said Doe will serve some sort of suspension for his arrest and that hell announce that punishment next week before Florida opens its season at home against Charleston Southern on Sept. 5.
Doe started three games last season and was bothered by a hernia injury that required surgery. He started 12 of 13 games in 2007.
