Another Cincinnati QB is hurt.
Another Cincinnati QB is hurt. Cincinnati quarterback Chazz Anderson was relegated to an emergency role Thursday night against No. 24 South Florida because he aggravated his sprained right knee Saturday in a loss to Connecticut.
Anderson, the third Bearcats QB to be hurt this season, was expected to be the backup against South Florida.
Junior Tony Pike started his second straight game despite a broken bone in his left (non-passing) forearm. Pike also started the 40-16 loss at UConn on Saturday, but had to leave the game at halftime because his left hand was numb. Anderson took over.
Senior Dustin Grutza broke his leg in the second game of the season and is out indefinitely. Pike broke his forearm two games later, forcing the freshman to take over for two weeks.

Clemson RB Spiller, QB Korn probable for BC game.
Injured Clemson running back C.J. Spiller is expected to return to action against Boston College.
Spiller pulled his hamstring in the opening half against Wake Forest on Oct. 9 and has not played since. The Tigers lost to Wake Forest and Georgia Tech in his absence.
Spiller is listed as probable for Saturday’s game against the Eagles.
Also, freshman backup quarterback Willy Korn was also listed as probable. Korn made his first career start against the Yellow Jackets on Oct. 18, but left in the opening quarter after taking a hit as he threw a pass. Exams showed a bone bruise in his throwing shoulder.
Clemson interim coach Dabo Swinney has said he might use Korn in addition to senior starter Cullen Harper against Boston College.
