Louisville WR Long out for season with knee injury.
Louisville WR Long out for season with knee injury. Louisville junior wide receiver Scott Long will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during practice on Tuesday.
The school said Long will undergo surgery to repair the knee within the next two weeks.
This is the second serious injury this year for Long, who missed the first four games of the season while recovering from a broken bone in his left foot, which he suffered during preseason practice in August.
Long was coming off the best game of his career, catching five passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns in last weeks 24-20 victory over South Florida. He played in only three contests this season, catching 11 passes for 201 yards.
Im very disappointed for Scott, Louisville coach Steve Kragthorpe said. Hes worked so hard this year to get into shape. It (the injury) occurred during a non-contact drill in practice. We have to move on from this situation.
Louisville (5-2) plays at Syracuse on Saturday.
