South Dakota pulls away to 34-3 win.
South Dakota outscored Missouri S&T 28-3 in the second half on its way to a 34-3 win over the Miners.
The Coyotes (3-4) led 6-0 at the half, but got four short runs and an 83-yard interception return to take charge after half.
USD quarterback Noah Shepard scored on a 1-yard run and threw an 8-yard TD pass to Ben Oberle. Shepard was 14-for-20 for 159 yards.
Dan Skelly caught nine passes for 124 yards.
The Coyotes held the Miners to 95 yards in the first half.
After Isaac Newton’s 3-yard run upped the Coyotes’ lead to 14-0 early in the third quarter, Byron Thomas intercepted a pass in his own end zone and returned it to the Miners’ 17, setting up Shepard’s 1-yard touchdown.
USD also got touchdown runs of 1 yard by Dion Foster and 5 yards by Chris Ganious.
Ganious led the Coyotes in rushing with 94 yards on 13 carries. USD rushed for 157 of its 345 total yards.
Jason Schleuter completed each of his 11 passes in the first half and finished the game 13-for-15 for 90 yards for the Miners (3-3).
Joe Drahos kicked a 34-yard field goal in the third quarter for Missouri S&T’s only points.
