Former Colorado Avalanche coach Joel Quenneville is due in court. Next month on a drunken driving charge.
Police in the Denver suburb of Lone Tree say Quenneville was stopped around 8 p.m. Friday for driving without his headlights on. After further investigation, he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and failure to use headlights.
Sgt. Dan Seaman says Quenneville’s license was confiscated after he refused to take a chemical test.
The Avalanche hired Quenneville in 2004. The team announced in May that he was being replaced by assistant Tony Granato.
Quenneville is due in Douglas County court Oct. 3. A phone number for him could not be found.
The arrest was first reported by KUSA-TV in Denver.

James Wisniewski: Still Targeted For Late December.
Wisniewski (knee) is expected to start skating next week, but the target for his return to the lineup is still late December, the Chicago Tribune reports.
After the surgery on his knee during the summer, it was thought that it would be late November or early December for his return so this is a little later than expected. Ill be skating by myself five minutes here and there, said the defenseman on Friday, who underwent surgery for a torn ACL in early July. We have to take it slow. Its my third one. We have to make sure this is going to last for a while.
